President Bush did not engineer Sept. 11

The Argus has done a great job covering campus anti-war activism in the past, so I was surprised to see the picture alongside Tuesday’s front-page article “Students join anti-war protest in NYC.” The photo is of a sign reading “The Bush Regime Engineered 9-11,” and has a caption that could be interpreted to imply that the protesters holding the sign are Wesleyan students and members of Students for Ending the War in Iraq.

To clear up any confusion, Students for Ending the War DOES NOT think that Bush engineered September 11th. The protesters in the picture are NOT members of Students for Ending the War. They weren’t part of the group that we organized to go down to New York, and as far as I can tell, aren’t even students here at Wes.

We’re sure that the confusion was a mistake on the Argus’ part, and hope that it won’t happen again.
