Approve new constitution

The WSA election this week includes an important vote to approve an updated version of our constitution. The Wesleyan Student Assembly reviewed the constitution this past spring in order to ensure its consistency with the functions of the WSA and the needs of the student body. The new changes to it include the adoption of gender neutral pronouns in the document, the allowance for the election of interim committee chairs as needed to serve over the summer, and the clarification of the Student Budget Committee members’ election and terms. It is important for the student body to vote to approve the updated constitution this week so that the assembly can begin the year and focus on the student body’s ideas and concerns immediately. The constitution is posted on the WSA voting website at wsavoting.wesleyan.edu and I encourage everyone to read it before voting. If you have any questions, please email our WSA president, Emily Polak (epolak@wesleyan.edu), or me (agomer@wesleyan.edu). Voting lasts until just before midnight on Friday, so be sure to get to a computer and vote this week to approve our constitution!
