Sports Showcase: Men’s tennis vs.Hamilton, Sat. 3 p.m.

This Saturday is one of only two chances this fall for sports fans to see the men’s tennis team in action at home.

The Continentals make the trip from Hamilton, N.Y., for the opening of the competitive season on the Vine Steet courts. The women’s team hosts Hamilton at 1 p.m. The men’s matches will follow starting at 3 p.m.

The men’s team has a new coach, Ken Alrutz, and must replace two of the their top six members, including number one player Dan Yeoman ’04.

Max Kates ’06 leads a group of returning players that posted a .500 record last year. The team plays the majority of its matches in the spring.

Alrutz also signed on to coach the women’s team, which posted an impressive 9-1 record last spring. Tennis supporters will have more opportunity to catch women’s matches because the team plays a more complete fall schedule.
