Hi, I’m Karen and I’m running for WSA President.
The WSA can enact change for students, so let’s put student health, hiring and tenure, and green energy on the table. Let’s keep chalk and spring fling alive. And let’s keep the social scene on campus alive too: locked basements, quiet houses, and breaking up parties is not the way to respect the vibrant student body that we have at Wesleyan.
I will push for a student of color resource center that includes a library and an archive, a lounge and meeting rooms, and all this can’t wait for the new University Center. I will make sure that 200 Church stays a flexible space for student of color self-determination. And I will lobby for a café in the CFA/Washington Street area.
I know that the WSA is sometimes seen as Big Brother, or worse, as a tool of the administration. The WSA should be a resource for students, and I will make sure that the WSA increases the extent of our listening and stays on top of campus issues so that we are active rather than just reactive. I represent real experience and real change.
