Men’s Hockey Loses to Two Out-of-Conference Opponents

The Wesleyan men’s hockey team saw two disappointing losses this weekend to out-of-league opponents Babson and UMass-Boston. With both colleges in the Greater Boston area, the Cardinals traveled to Babson on Friday, Dec. 3, to take on the Beavers.

Coming off two tough defeats over the weekend, the Cardinals looked to rebound at home against Coast Guard on Wednesday. But despite the Cardinals’ efforts, Coast Guard rolled to a 3-0 victory, bringing the Wesleyan’s overall record to 4-7 on the year.

Men’s and Women’s Crew Open Season in Promising Fashion

On Sunday, the men and women’s crew teams traveled to Lowell, Mass. to participate in the Textile River Regatta. The two teams raced a total of eight boats, and came back to Wesleyan feeling accomplished and excited about their prospects for the season.

On Saturday, the Wesleyan women’s soccer team traveled to Somerville, Mass. to take on their NESCAC foe, the Tufts Jumbos. After scoring just 45 seconds into the match, the Cardinals failed to put up another point in the remaining 109 minutes, and the two teams battled to a 1-1 double overtime draw.

First Win for Women’s Soccer: Holyoke Lyons Defeated 6-0

On Tuesday, the women’s soccer (1-1-2) team obtained its first win of the season in dramatic fashion, beating the Mt. Holyoke Lyons 6-0. The two teams have met every year since 1979, and this was the team’s largest margin of victory in the 32-game series.

On Jan. 15, the men’s hockey team faced off against Little Three rival Williams, which entered the game ranked 10th nationally, at Spurrier-Snyder Rink. On that Friday night, history fell by the wayside, and instead of laying down at the feet of a team that, according to recent history and most statistics, should have crushed them, the Cardinals stood tall and dominated Williams to achieve a 6-2 victory.
