Matt DiBlasi claims (and David Knappenberger alludes to the claim) that Wesleyan’s investment in the weapons contractors General Dynamics and Raytheon is socially responsible. My response is the following:
Weapons contractors make weapons. Weapons kill people. Wesleyan invests in weapons contractors, and yet claims to be a socially responsible institution. Is killing people socially responsible? Everyone, break out your dictionaries if you don’t know already.
If we ever want to see peace in this world, we can’t perpetuate violence by giving our support and approval to companies that enable and profit from warfare.
Wesleyan, divest. Now.
