In an e-mail sent to the University community on Dec. 7, Dean of the College Maria Cruz-Saco announced the creation of a Campus Climate Log to document acts of intolerance and inform the campus. Cruz-Saco, Dean for Diversity and Academic Advancement Daniel Teraguchi, Dean of Student Services Mike Whaley, and WSA Representative and Co-Chair of the Student Life Committee Whitney Matthews ’07 will be responsible for compiling the log and reviewing the incidents.
“This team will periodically review and update the content of the log to accurately represent incidents and events that have been reported while at the same time protecting the confidentiality of individuals,” the e-mail read.
She said that the initiative is part of a broader campus effort called Campaign SAFE, which seeks to provide a safe environment for students. The log has entries dating from Aug. 22, when racist graffiti was found stenciled on a Clark elevator.
