Last Sunday’s WSA meeting featured a presentation by a consultant from SpencerStuart, the search firm aiding the Presidential Search Committee in its search for President Bennet’s successor. The consultant commented on the firm’s role in the search, which includes collecting student opinion, and gave insight into the process thus far. The 18- person committee has met twice so far, while SpencerStuart consultants have received over 200 nominations for potential candidates. According to the consultant, each candidate will be considered.
President Doug Bennet and his wife Midge recently met with the search firm.
“We gave them our perspective,” he said. “It’s an ongoing process that we find encouraging. We assessed what Wesleyan is and what it needs. It was a general conversation.
In a campus-wide email, Brittany Mitchell ’07 announced the forthcoming publication of the position specification, which will be made available on the Presidential Search website within the next week. Mitchell also appealed to the student body for more feedback that she and Patrick Senat ’08 could use to represent students’s voices as they serve on the Presidential Search Committee.
