Psi U held its semi-annual civic employee dinner last week, specifically honoring police officers, firefighters, and a soldier who recently returned from Iraq.
“As college students it is easy for us to become so focused on our small world that we forget the larger world we live in,” said Psi Upsilon President Andrew Bleeker ’07. “Tonight we want to the thank our public servants who on the streets of Middletown and the deserts of Iraq sacrifice so much to keep us safe.”
The dinner had a special theme, as Staff Sgt. Keith Clarke of the Middletown Fire Department had recently returned from military service in Iraq. The dinner began with speeches honoring Sgt. Clarke and thanking him and his family for their continued dedication.
“I’ve always loved this old house; it’s just brimming with tradition,” said Mayor Domenique Thornton. “I’ve been coming to meals here for years.”
Other Middletown leaders in attendance included Police Chief J. Edward Bremer, Fire Chief Gary Oullette and a bevy of other fire fighters, police officers, and city council members.
