Cardinal Athletes of the Weekend: Mike Moody ’10

At the NESCAC Championships over the weekend in Middlebury, Mike Moody ’10 solidified his spot as the top javelin thrower in the conference. With a throw of 186’6” Moody took home All-NESCAC honors with his first-place finish as just a freshman. Undefeated so far this season, Moody’s throw was over nine feet further than the second place finisher from Tufts. Moody, the high school national champion in the javelin event, broke the 10-year Wesleyan record by over 11 feet on March 31 with a throw of 185’9” and broke his own record in his next two events, including a throw of 187’1” at the Trinity Invitational. Moody is one of the favorites to capture the New England Division III Championship in the javelin, which will take place this weekend at Springfield College.
