Mocon Wespeak hurtful, offensive

I am writing in response to Jake Cuttler’s letter last week, “The MoCon Scene.” While I must make the assumption that this piece was meant to be satirical in nature and may have been perceived in that manner by many students, unfortunately, the dining staff members that Jake referred to were very upset. They perceived Jake’s observations of “the bizarre cast of characters” as hurtful and mean-spirited.

If any student has an encounter with a particular employee that is offensive, we encourage students to report that incident to the dining services’ management so that we can address the issue in a professional and private manner.

To publicly humiliate these employees for a few laughs, or gratification of your sense of accomplishment for your clever literary piece, was distasteful. I am disappointed that the Argus allowed a piece such as this to be published.
