Swimmers don’t dye hair blond

You’ve seen them, those bleach blonde pseudo-rockers, like Aaron Carter on MTV that all the girls go wild over. You’ve also seen us, the men’s swimming and diving team, walking around campus with similar hairdos. WesCelebs Ben Byers, Dan Devine, John Haley, Matt Brownstein, Matt Donne, Will Hasty, Jeff Stein, Dom Heynen, Will McCue, Rob Mitchell, Sean McClellan, Josh Tanz, Tom Cleveland, Zach Webster, Adam Chamberlain, Mike Pepi, Luke Schleusener, Alec Zebrowski, Mollie Parrish and myself have been sporting blond, borderline white hair in a way that looks as if it were dead and/or falling out.

I’ve seen this look pulled off by models during New York Fashion week as well, though I think we all agree the swim team is hotter. Contrary to popular belief however, (a.k.a.- Tuesday’s Argus article on the swim team) this style “choice” was not achieved at our annual hair-dying slumber party, but rather through the hours of dedication and commitment at the pool. Though we are honored by, and greatly enjoy, the positive press we’ve received for our performances this season, we must ask the Argus to use more discretion in reporting. So, to set the record straight, the Wesleyan swim team does NOT dye our hair synchronous colors of blond. I mean, c’mon, we’re not Williams!
