Men’s Ice Hockey: Dallas Bossort ’09

With winter comes men’s ice hockey, and with men’s ice hockey comes Dallas Bossort ’09. Bossort is a four-year starting defenseman for the Cardinals and a captain on the 2008-2009 squad.

Bossort has consistently been a goal-scorer and defensive standout for the team for the last three years. His physical play and superior skating skills make him a valuable asset on the ice. Opposing players fear going into corners for the puck because Bossort will bring the pain and often make them literally wear the ice.

Be sure to watch for power plays this winter. With the man advantage, Bossort and fellow co-captain and returning 14-goal scorer Scott Burns ’09, rove the blue line looking for their respective one-timers. These two bruisers have had their shots clocked upwards of three digits on the radar gun and opposing goalies will be wearing extra padding when they see the Cardinals.

With 20 returning players, the team could do damage in the playoffs this season. Bossort commented that the team’s core group of senior leaders has a great supporting cast in the underclassmen.

Last year, the team posted an 8-13-3 record and qualified for the NESCAC Championship for the third straight year. Wesleyan opens its season Friday, Nov. 21 with a home game against Hamilton College. All are encouraged to come out and cheer on the men’s hockey team as well as admire the stellar play of a spectacular Wesleyan student-athlete.
