Cardinal Athletics: By the Numbers

34: Kills by Lisa Drennan ’09 during Friday’s volleyball match against Williams, breaking her own record of 33.

5: Saves by men’s soccer goalie Nigel Stacey ’11 against Western New England College on Tuesday—the most saves by a rookie goalie since 2005.

20-7: Margin by which the women’s soccer team outshot Mount Holyoke during its 3-1 win over the Lyons Wednesday.

Did You Know…?
The men’s tennis team fell to Williams—a team it has not beaten since May 10, 1972—7-2 on Tuesday. However, that victory broke an eight-contest Williams losing streak in Middletown, dating back to Feb. 23. Since then, Williams had fallen to Wesleyan in contests in women’s basketball, women’s lacrosse, baseball, softball and volleyball, in addition to three neutral-site losses (against Trinity, Tufts and Amherst) in the NESCAC Baseball and Softball Championships. Also, Michael Piderit ’12 won his match at number-five singles 6-2, 4-6, (10-4), becoming the first player to win a singles match against the Ephs since Michael Frank ’08 during the 2004-2005 season (6-2, 3-6, (10-4) at number six). Overall, the two wins represented Wesleyan’s highest total vs. the Ephs since April 20, 1993, when the Cardinals fell to Williams 7-2.
