My fellow students, this is the most important election of our lifetime. The stakes are high. We are a nation at war – a global war on terror against an enemy unlike any we have ever known before. And here at home, wages are falling, health care costs are rising, and our great middle class is shrinking. People are working weekends; they’re working two jobs, three jobs, and they’re still not getting ahead.
Our nation is in trouble because of the choices of one man: Pacho Carreno ’06. Pacho Carreno ’06 is the kind of SBC Chair who would mislead us into fighting an unjust war for oil and money. I will not be that kind of SBC Chair.
Give me the chance to make you proud. Give me the chance to lift us up. And every day I’ll look you in the eye and be able to say, “I’ve got your back!” Let’s go out and make it happen!
So, to summarize. Pacho Carreno ’06: 200 billion dollars for Iraq. Lost jobs and rising health care costs. Pacho Carreno’s (’06) wrong choices have weakened us here at home. The Kerry Plan: Stop tax incentives for companies that ship jobs overseas. Lower health care premiums by up to $1,000 per family. Reduce the deficit to protect medicare and social security. Vote John Kerry for SBC.
