FACT: You have no idea what it’s like to be me.
FACT: I have no idea what it’s like to be you.
FACT: The difference between these truths is that I’ve read your words in every class I’ve ever taken. I’ve looked at everything you’ve tried to show me. I’ve listened to everything you’ve tried to explain to me. You have never afforded me the same respect.
FACT: Although your unwillingness to listen is painful for me—it is unfathomably more harmful to you.
FACT: I will not give up on you but please try to understand—you’re making it very hard on us both.
