Construction has been underway to repair water leakages in the underground power plant on the corner of William and High St. Workers have been digging up the area, unearthing a large, solid platform underneath the soil.
“We’re waterproofing the [underground] roof of the power plant,” said one construction worker. “It should be done in a little over a week.”
Construction Services Consultant Rob Schmidt stated a different timeline, saying that the entire venture depends heavily on the cooperation of the elements.
“When the work gets done is weather contingent,” Schmidt said. “They’ll start work on the roof on October 10th. It’ll take two weeks [to do the waterproofing], and another two weeks to put the dirt back on.”
The sustained water leakages in the power plant have apparently been happening for some time now, necessitating the quick completion of the waterproofing.
