Project $ave rocks

When I saw Ashley Casale’s Wespeak hating on Project $ave I felt compelled to respond. Here’s the deal about Project $ave: it’s actually about saving money. Shocked? I know it’s a crazy thought—saving money? With the university trying to reduce the draw from the endowment and considering some of the expensive projects that are going on and that are planned for the future why would we try and be more (dare I say it?) fiscally responsible? Maybe you’d rather see tuition keep rising, and hey that’s not only your prerogative, but as a senior it really doesn’t affect me anymore, so do as you please, but maybe you should find out what something’s all about before you crap all over it.

Now please, before you start writing me hate mail, I’m all for “energy and resource conservation.” I think those are incredibly important, but that’s not Project $ave’s goal. Furthermore, the two ideas certainly are complimentary, so I don’t think that just because Project $ave’s goal isn’t explicitly to save the environment, there is reason to say that it sucks. So anyone who’s reading this and has an idea of how Wesleyan can eliminate wasteful spending or do things more efficiently, submit it at http://www.wesleyan.edu/projectsave/ and you might even be eligible for a prize if your idea is picked by the review board. (Just don’t tell Ashley you’re doing so.)
