Club sports in the Argus. This is really, really crazy. I can’t for the life of me remember the last time I saw the beat settled into those last few pages of the paper. Finally it’s back and is like an old friend ringing you up and letting you know they’re back in town for a few days. I can’t promise when you’ll see the likes of this column again, but truly it’s probably more exciting that way.
Spring has arrived, and despite a brief snow scare last week, hockey is but a distant memory, and the fields are now ready to be conquered by the giants that are Wesrugby and men’s rugby.
Wesrugby pounced on Trinity last weekend with two astounding wins, 15-5 and 5-0. According to quad-captain Molly Dengler, “We dominated in the forwards all game, and although trinity had some speed on us, we worked as a unit and muscled our way into their end of the field all day.”
The squad had a great turnout despite the game being played all the way down on Long Lane. This coming weekend the squad will be playing two games at
Williams, a team Dengler claims will be a lot more competitive than Trinity.
Not as much to report on for men’s rugby, which has had some success of its own during this early juncture in the spring season. Old Methodist is 2-0 with the most recent win ending with a 24-6 advantage.
Club soccer is also back in the swing of things, mainly practicing and honing skills in IM indoor. If any games pop up in the near future, I’ll be sure to let you know.
That’s about it for this edition of the club beat. I apologize for the hiatus if you had had a hankering for your club sports info, and as far as the brief nature of this column, I’d like to think that this journalist is more concerned with quality than with quantity. Thanks for walking with me, see you next time on the club beat.
