Flyer joke about cancer insensitive

I’m writing to the group who posted a sign saying that people should come to their concert because the little girl in their photograph has cancer- Since there is no indication of the reality of the statement, I would just like to tell you that I was personally very hurt by the enormous lack of sensitivity it displayed.

I know that it can be funny to joke about very serious matters, and this isn’t supposed to be a sophisticated argument or anything, but as someone who continues to cope with more than one experience of terminal cancer afflicting people close to me, it was hurtful to feel laughed at in the place that is my home most of the year, not to mention the disrespect of all the children and adults who do have to cope with such awful diseases as cancer. I would just like to ask you to be a bit more sensitive next time. Thanks.
