Olin Memorial Library has won the prestigious The Office Building of the Year (TOBY) award for property maintenance in a historical building.
The TOBY’s are awarded locally by the Greater Hartford Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) on a competitive basis. Nominees are judged based on a criterion of performance, maintenance and condition. Buildings are categorized by age and structural type.
In the case of Olin Library, the TOBY award honors work done by custodial workers, the trade staff, and their supervisors.
“We take pride in the work we do here and it is very nice to have that recognition from BOMA,” said Michel Conty, Facilities Manager.
The original designs for Olin Library were created by Henry Bacon, who also designed the Lincoln Memorial.
The building stands as a memorial to Stephen Olin (president from 1842-1851) and his son Stephen Henry Olin.
The award was presented to Wesleyan University Jan. 13 at the BOMA annual business meeting.
