The women’s squash team had a similarly strong performance in the Boston Round Robin, rebounding from an opening-match loss to Bates to flatten Northeastern and Wellesley College. The team now sits at 2-1 with a six-match weekend next on tap.

Caroline Fox ’12, who finished the weekend with a 3-0 mark, was the only Cardinal to win her match against Bates, taking a 3-1 decision at No. 7. The Cardinals rebounded with a resounding 7-2 victory against Northeastern on the same day, as four Cardinals swept their matches: Grace Zimmerman ’13 (No. 2), Fox (No. 7), Elizabeth Larner ’10 (No. 8), and Anika Fischer ’10 (No. 9). In addition, Tanesha Jackson ’13, Gwynne Hunter ’12, and Jenny Chu ’11 pulled out 3-2 victories at No. 3, No. 5, and No. 6, respectively.

The Cardinals put an exclamation mark on their weekend performance with a 9-0 demolition of Wellesley on the tournament’s second day. Wesleyan swept every match at the 3-9 spots; Casey Simchik ’10 took her match at the top spot 3-1, and Zimmerman won hers at No. 2 by a 3-2 count.

The Cardinals will conclude their 2009 action in the Wesleyan Round Robin this weekend, also opening against St. Lawrence on Friday night.
