Swimmer Cara Madden ’11 won four gold medals at the annual Massachusetts-wide Bay State Games the weekend of July 11-12, which were held at Harvard’s Blodgett Pool. Madden also set two meet records in the masters (ages 19-34) division.

Madden set meet records in the 100-meter (1:12.41) and 200-meter (2:39.09) backstroke events, eclipsing the previous marks by margins of 4.26 seconds and 1.86 seconds, respectively. She also won gold in the 50-meter (:29.75) and 100-meter (1:04.69) freestyle events.

Madden is the Wesleyan record-holder in the 50-yard (:27.65) and 100-yard (:59.36) backstroke. Both records were set during the 2009 NESCAC Championships, in which she took fourth place in both events.

A native of Ipswich, Mass., Madden represented the Northeast team during the Bay State Games. The Games ran from June 27-July 26.
