Lisa Drennan ’09, who concluded her illustrious Wesleyan volleyball career last fall by being named NESCAC Player of the Year for the second time in three years, has signed a professional contract in Europe. She will play for Brondby Elite, based in Brondby, Denmark, in the 2009 season.

Drennan, who was named an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III All-American and CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine second-team Academic All-American, finished her Wesleyan career ranked second on the all-time kills list with 1,865; she holds the school record for kills per set with 4.92. She ranked among the top five players in Division III in kills per set in 2006, 2007, and 2008, and led the NESCAC in that category all three years. For her career, Drennan had a .298 hitting percentage and averaged 2.73 digs, 0.68 blocks, and 0.46 aces per set.

Drennan is one of three Americans on the Brondby Elite roster, joining players from Central Washington U. and the University of Arizona. The Brondby team website notes that she was selected not only for her hitting ability, but also for her receiving talent.

The first match of Brondby Elite’s 21-match season will take place Sunday, Sept. 13.
