Women’s ice hockey head coach Jodi McKenna was recently named an assistant coach for the U.S. Women’s National Team at the 2009 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Women’s Championship. She will join Northeastern University head women’s ice hockey coach Dave Flint, who is also serving as an assistant to Team USA head coach Mark Johnson (also the head women’s coach at the University of Wisconsin), behind the bench. The Championship will be held April 4-12 in Hameenlinna, Finland.

McKenna recently completed her second year at the helm of the Wesleyan women’s ice hockey program after nine seasons as an assistant coach at St. Lawrence University. While at St. Lawrence, the Saints qualified for the NCAA tournament five times and made it to the Frozen Four each time, including an appearance in the title game during the 2000-01 season.

McKenna is a 1998 graduate of Brown University, where she played four seasons, helping the team capture the ECAC regular-season or tournament title three times. She also served as an assistant coach at the USA Women’s Hockey Under-22 camp last summer and at the USA Hockey Women’s Holiday Camp last December.
