Consider taking ECON 101

Killing people is wrong.
Making money from killing people is profitable.
I think most people would agree.
This is basic economics.
Why should we divest?

Now, don’t get me wrong, I don’t support killing or arms dealing or indirectly funding wars. The University obviously has a social responsibility when it invests, but simply breaking down the situation into a moral issue is oversimplification. I think a better approach to this entire divestment process would be from an economic point of view. Maybe I have been distracted by all the protests and peace-signing, but I have yet to see Students for Ending the War in Iraq (SEWI) come up with a list of other potential investments that would be peaceful and profitable for the University.
