Students, what would you do if your country were invaded?

Have you ever wondered exactly who the Iraqi “insurgents” are? Journalists Molly Bingham and Steve Connors were working in Iraq during the March 2003 US invasion and wondered precisely this. Bingham spent eight days in late March detained in Abu Ghraib prison by the Iraqi government security services before being released in Jordan and working her way back into Iraq; Connors was present throughout the invasion.

In August 2003 Bingham and Connors teamed up to begin working on “Meeting Resistance,” a project which ultimately required ten months of work in Iraq, tracing the stories of eight Iraqi resistance fighters on why they fight, how they became involved, and their perspectives on the future of Iraq.

Join Bingham and Connors in a screening of their documentary, “Meeting Resistance,” this Thursday, December 6th, at 7 p.m. in Shanklin 107. There is a $2 entrance fee to help cover costs. An open Q&A with the directors will follow the screening. Don’t speculate about the motivation behind Iraqi resistance fighters any longer; come find out for yourself.
