In a campus-wide email sent to the community on Wednesday, Midge Bennet announced that as a means to supplement his meager half-million-dollar income, President Doug Bennet will provide the voices for two upcoming animated projects.
“Dougie has been asked to be Kenny in the next South Park movie and the voice of Charlie Brown’s teacher in a future Peanuts series,” Midge wrote. “After hearing Doug speak at a University dinner, one of the parents who happens to be a casting agent expressed interest in working with Doug. It is such a joy to share to share this great news!”
Bennet will travel to soundstages in Hollywood twice a week for the next few months to record the dialogue. To portray the role of Kenny in the South Park movie, Bennet has to make a complicated high-pitched muffled sound.
“I think I heard him make a similar noise during a Board of Trustees luncheon last week,” said Vice President Peter Patton. “We thought it was unintentional because he had fallen asleep face-down on the table. But I guess he was doing his best Kenny.”
For his role as Charlie Brown’s teacher, Bennet will have to be slightly more articulate. His lines will consist mainly of “baawuuwahhwuawwahh,” “wwaaaubuhbaawaahwaah,” and “wahhwahhbwauwahhwah.”
“The Peanuts series might be a challenge for Dougie. He’s having a difficult time remembering the words for each scene,” Midge said.
Bennet has been practicing for his upcoming roles.
“We have him in the sound booth three times a week,” Midge said. “He is quite familiar with the equipment from his days working at NPR.”
During Bennet’s short stays in California, Patton will be designated Interim President of the University While The Actual President Visits The Real O.C. Wesleyan is the first academic institution to have an actor in a leadership position since Mr. Feeney was principal at John Adams High.
Bennet was reached for comment, but no one could understand what he was saying.
