Bronner ’76 on Journalism, Middle East

This Wednesday, Ethan Bronner ’76, the Jerusalem Bureau Chief for the New York Times, gave a lecture in Memorial Chapel on the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, focusing on the Israeli and Palestinian dispute. His main points included Israel’s excessive use of military force against Palestinians, the difficulty U.S. journalists have in penetrating Arab affairs, the threat of Iranian nuclear ambitions against Israel, and the dispute over Jewish settlements in the West Bank. Bronner believes that the only workable resolution to the conflict is a two state solution with the United States most likely acting as a mediator.
