Police in Mississippi were forced to tase and handcuff an emu that had been running loose on Interstate 20. Scott County Police had been receiving reports of sightings since Friday. Investigators are currently trying to determine the emu’s origin.

Authorities in Guangzhou, China recently coated a bridge in butter to prevent suicide attempts. While fences and guards had both failed to prevent the attempts, the fatty coating has proved effective so far. It remains to be seen how officials will respond as the butter begins to sour.

A one-year old girl in Zhenzhou, China survived an operation to remove her unborn twin from her stomach. In this rare condition—called foetus in fetu—the unborn twin had become trapped inside the girl’s body during gestation, and survived by developing a new umbilical cord, attached to the girl’s more-developed blood system. After 10 hours of surgery, the girl is expected to make a full recovery.

Doctors in Miami, Florida implanted a tooth into a woman’s eye to restore her vision. In the procedure, a canine tooth is integrated with the tissue of the eye and serves as a base for a prosthetic lens. The surgery, which is only used in extreme cases, has given the formerly blind woman 20/70 vision in the treated eye.

A man on death row in Ohio for murder and rape has received a one-week reprieve after executioners were unable to find a vein suitable for lethal injection, the method of execution required by state law. The prisoner was cooperative throughout the failed procedure, according to a prison spokesperson.
