I was distressed to read your page in Tuesday’s issue soliciting people’s opinions on Scientology. It seemed like most people don’t even know what Scientology is! Come on, kids, here are the basics:
-Scientology is a religion founded by L. Ron Hubbard in the 1950s. Before starting Scientology, Hubbard was a science fiction author, among other things. He wrote “Battlefield Earth”, which later become an awesome movie! COOL!
-There’s a subgroup of Scientologists who sail all the time. It’s called the Sea Org. COOL!
-The world spiritual headquarters of Scientology are in Clearwater, Florida. COOL!
-Scientologists believe that 75 million years ago, Xenu, a galactic ruler, “brought billions of people to Earth, stacked them around volcanoes, and blew them up with hydrogen bombs. Their souls then clustered together and stuck to the bodies of the living, and continue to cause people problems today” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenu). COOL!
-I saw a new Scientology Church being built in New Haven today and it was COOL!
