A study performed at Elon University, North Carolina, found that the affects of Red Bull were not different from a ginger ale-based placebo. The researchers concluded that “when taken at the end of a busy weekday, [Red Bull] does not significantly improve reaction time or visual attention.”

As a result of an impasse finalizing the state budget, Pennsylvania State is currently missing $83 million in state allocations, and may have to borrow from banks to cover operating costs. Senate Republicans are calling for a $27.1 billion budget, an amount that Governor Rendell and many Democrats say would require excessive cuts to some state programs.

Approximately 25 schools have asked Anheuser-Busch to curtail its new line of 24-packs and 30-packs printed in their school colors. Many schools objected to the promotion on the grounds that it would encourage underage drinking. However, some students thought that the color of the cans would have little effect on the amount of underage or dangerous drinking.

According to municipal officials, a school bus converted into a pool by University of Florida constitutes a violation of numerous city regulations. Officials said that the pool-bus, which cost around $1000 to create, was too close to power lines, not properly enclosed, and too long to be parked at the student’s house for more than 72 hours.

Students completing coursework online may score higher than those in classes with no online component, according to a study by SRI International. The study found that students doing some or all coursework online ranked in the 59th percentile in performance—9 points higher than students in other courses.
