On Saturday, April 12, the Wesleyan Student Assembly (WSA) announced the winners of student elections for the 2025-2026 academic year in an email to the student body. Paul Quach ’26 was elected WSA President, and Judy Liu ’26 was elected WSA Vice President.
Additionally, four Senior Class Officers were elected: Senior Class President Ella Weiner ’26, Senior Class Vice President Jenny Ongele ’26, Senior Class Secretary Sanaa Mia ’26, and Senior Class Treasurer Isaac Platt Zolov ’26.
The Senior Class Officers are responsible for organizing senior class events such as Senior Week, a popular week-long celebration for seniors between the end of the academic year and commencement. They will work together with the Office of Student Involvement and will also have responsibilities during Commencement.
“Thank you to the Class of 2026 for voting for us in the recent election,” Platt Zolov wrote in an email to The Argus on behalf of the four Senior Class Officers. “Given that many of us lacked a full senior year of high school due to the pandemic, we are committed to working together, as well with the Office of Student Involvement and the WSA, to make sure that we have a full roster of fun and well-funded senior programming next year.”
The voting period ran from Monday, April 7, to Friday, April 11. Quach won with 73.31% of 768 votes cast over opponent Eric He ’28, while Liu won her race uncontested. The two WSA senators were running mates on the platform of “#KeepinItCUTE, ” standing for Consistent, United, Transparent, and Equitable.
Quach expressed appreciation for the support of the student body and for those who helped in his campaign.
“This past week was filled with so much campaigning and quite frankly took up all my time, but my victory is a collective win, powered by the organizers, artists, leaders – you name it, on this campus,” Quach wrote in an email to The Argus. “I can not express enough how grateful I am for those involved in the #KeepinItCUTE Campaign, a campaign I have kept consistent since my first election to the WSA; each individual brought so much light to this fight.”
Liu had similar thoughts on the campaign and election victory.
“I’m so overwhelmed by all the support that Paul and I have received this past week, especially from our friends on the WSA and in our personal lives, who were there for us during all of our campaigning and who helped behind the scenes,” Liu said.
Quach and Liu will be sworn into their roles in the last WSA General Assembly of the semester, but both indicated that they will start exploring their duties immediately.
“The work starts now and will continue into the summer,” Quach wrote. “Along with my VP, Judy Liu, our first priority is WSA Funding Transparency and rolling out our plan to educate ourselves, then to the Leadership Board, then the General Assembly, and finally to the larger campus. Though I am trained in the Student Life Committee, my commitment to transparency remains steadfast, and that is achieved through clear communication, documentation, and access to such information.”
Both Quach and Liu expressed commitment to protecting campus identity groups and their funding through the WSA. Liu noted that they have also been working to protect international students in particular.
“Paul and I have a lot of big things ahead, and we are working right now to start understanding our obligations, our responsibilities, and the environment that we will find ourselves in in the new school year,” Liu said. “So what that looks like is already starting outreach to the international student population through ISAB [International Student Advisory Board], through the OISA [Office of International Student Affairs] and also starting to have conversations with SBC [Student Budget Committee] and the necessary individuals to understand our budget and funding.”
Quach emphasized that he always remains open to talking to his peers to improve the University.
“WSA holds a very special place in my heart, and it would be an understatement to say that I truly love this work,” Quach wrote. “So, I encourage students to ask me about it! Let’s have a chat! If anyone has questions about the WSA and what we can do, I am here to answer the call and work together to make Wesleyan more CUTE for everyone!”
