Cross Country Heads to ECAC Championship in RI

Wesleyan Cross Country raced its “B” squad this past weekend in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championship held in Bristol, Rhode Island. The women placed 8th out of the 39 teams with a total of 292 points, while the men finished 13th out of the 44 teams with a total of 390 points.

On the women’s side (6k course), Hannah Zimmerman ’13 finished 35th (24:16.88), Chloe Lalonde ’13 came in 51st (24:44.12), Claire Palmer ’14 earned 61st (24:53.31), Arielle Trager ’14 finished 69th (25:04.66), and Nicole Lepre ’13 took 78th (25:20.75).

On the men’s side (8k course), Julian Applebaum ’13 finished with a solid 21st place (26:51.99), earning all-ECAC Div. III honors for his top-35 effort. Teammates were not far behind as Austin Cotant ’13 finished 43rd (27:22.67), Alec Henry in 75th (28:06.30) Zak Malik ’14 in 125th (28:47.81), and Kirby Neaton ’14 134th (28:53.85).

The next full varsity event for the Cardinals will be the New England Division III Championship hosted by Williams on Saturday, Nov. 13.
