Bon Appétit: Be more consistent

Gone are the days of Delmar drama, but why do I find that Bon Appétit leaves us with broken promises when they once whispered sweet nothings into our ears? In particular, I would like to bring your attention to the problem of the Cafés.

During the second week here, I went to the Café at Usdan to get some soup. “No soup for you,” they said. As well as no black bean burger, and no vegan option. They reassured me that it was just because school was starting up again, and that everything the Café provided last year would reappear soon. But now it’s the beginning of October and still, none of these options are available. When was it decided that hot food shouldn’t be an option and, more importantly, who was making these decisions?

If that doesn’t pique your interest, then also consider this: the price of a NuGo bar at the Café at Usdan is $1.99. The price of the same bar at Pi Café is $2.30. What, does it cost more to transport this delicious nutrition bar to Church Street than it does to Wyllys Avenue? Or maybe they’re just trying to subtly sabotage science students.

I’ve learned to aim low with this mess of a catering company. But they need to clean up their act. All I ask is that there be other types of “to-go” options besides sushi and sandwiches, and that prices are consistent. If this means eliminating one of the million varieties of sushi in order to bring back the other options, so be it! So please, B.A., redeem yourself a little. And, by the way, the power of the spoon compelled me to write this.
