Attn: Rotenberg made a joke

When Ariela Rotenberg ’10 told the directors of Second Stage not to get drunk and operate heavy machinery, she was jokingly paraphrasing the Second Stage Manual for directors, entitled “How the Hell to Put On A Show.” I did not mean to imply that Rotenberg was flighty or silly in any way. She was merely making a joke to bring some cheer into the meeting. In fact, I am very fond of Ms. Rotenberg, and I think she is brilliant, eloquent, and one of the nicest people on Second Stage. If she says that a season will be “exceptional” or “exciting,” then she is correct, and you should see it.

Also, just to be absolutely clear: everything I have written in The Argus has been an opinion piece. I’ll restate that in caps, to draw the eye of those skimmers out there: OPINION. Nothing more and nothing less. Take it with a grain of salt, my darlings. And to the mythical and oft-enraged “theater community,” whoever you may be, toughen up a touch. You’ll have more fun.
