Cardinal Athlete of the Weekend: Meaghan Dendy ’10, Softball

In the softball team’s three-game sweep of Amherst over the weekend, Meaghan Dendy ’10 proved to be the key offensive catalyst for the Cardinals. Dendy, the leadoff hitter, provided clutch hitting in the opening match-up with the Lord Jeffs on Friday, driving in the tying run with one of her three hits in the team’s 7-4 victory. In a doubleheader the following day, Dendy’s hot bat continued, as the freshman went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate in the opening game, scoring two of the three Cardinal runs in the 3-1 win. Later in the afternoon, Dendy collected two more hits as the Cards edged the Lord Jeffs by an 11-10 margin, giving the NESCAC-West leading Cardinals their fourth conference victory of the season. With a batting average of .346, Dendy is one of four Cardinals with an average above .300, and she leads the team in runs scored with 17. Not just limited to the plate, the Swansea, MA. native sports a 4-3 record on the mound, leading the Cards with a 3.24 ERA.
