Recent skunk killing is appalling

I was pretty shocked when I read about the slaying of a skunk last week by Middletown residents. According to a Wesleyan student, the people who did it were not students, and I sincerely hope this is true. Just the way that they did it is horrible, trapping it between High and Lo Rise and beating it to death. Who the hell are these people? Why do they exist, and why can’t we beat *them* to death with bigger sticks? These are my questions. Say whatever you want about forgiveness, but, honestly, I don’t care. The way I feel about these people is just short of rage, and I wonder if I’ll ever get the chance to hit them with my car or find them in the act of another unspeakable torture, thereby giving me the excuse to savagely hurt them. You know, I don’t know why, but cruelty to animals makes me a lot more upset than cruelty to people, and I think our laws should be a little more severe for people who blatantly take other lives, despite those lives not being human. This is so frustrating! I know it’s unrealistic right now, and my emotions getting the better of my judgment, but when a car hit my dog last summer, I actually wanted to kill the driver. No joke. I would have done it too, if it wasn’t a sure thing that I’d do some hard time. No qualms about it. I would have killed him. Of course, that was if he hadn’t stopped and profusely and sincerely apologized, and also, my dog didn’t die. Anyway, on another note, I read the whole NY Times from cover to cover today (including the Business section!) and feel very informed. Peace.
