Three more bats were caught in the stairwell near WestCo Up 2 early Tuesday morning, bringing the total number of bats captured in the Up 2 area to six since spring break.
“It’s unlikely that all [six] bats caught flew in through open doors,” said Kevin Kromash ’08, an Up 2 resident. “Physical Plant is doing its best to deny fault with the building structure.”
Kromash pointed to the fact that some of the bats captured in the last few weeks entered student rooms by coming out of radiators, though members of Physical Plant have consistently reiterated that students need to keep windows and doors closed to prevent bats from entering. There are no other areas on campus known to have had multiple incidents with bats in recent weeks.
According to an e-mail sent to all residents of Foss Hill dorms, Physical Plant is in the process of checking all Foss Hill dorm rooms for “openings that the bats could use to enter the buildings.”
