Get the picture: We have cable!

Wesleyan University has a contract with Comcast guaranteeing basic cable to all undergraduate students. If you do not have cable in your room, first there are a few things to check.

Many modern (and some older) TVs must be programmed to view all available channels. In the menu system of most TVs will be an ‘autoprogram’ function that will scan all the available channels to determine which actually have content and which do not. If this procedure is not carried out, it is very possible your TV will simply skip over channels that might otherwise be viewable. In addition, make sure the TV input is set to cable and not antenna.

If the above has been checked and cable is still not available, you can contact Comcast at 1-800-COMCAST (266-22778) or visit them on the web at www.comcast.com/support. Freshmen should note that Comcast refers to the Foss Hill dorms as Foss 1-10, not Nic, Hewitt, Westco, etc, so when contacting Comcast, keep that in mind when specifying a location. Also, if Comcast has been contacted several times, or cable outages are chronic, then contact Helpdesk at x4000 with this information. Note: Calling Helpdesk for a cable TV problem should be your LAST and NOT FIRST action; Helpdesk does not repair any aspect of cable TV, Helpdesk merely has more direct access to contact Comcast directly and escalate issues of particular importance.
