Ampersand reporter Jacob Robinson was able to secure an interview with Director of Public Safety Maryann Wiggin in which he asked her about the new WesPartyGuy screen name reported in Friday’s Argus. Here’s what she had to say:
“Unfortunately, Public Safety is powerless to control the use of AOL Instant Messenger by minors. I shudder to think, however, that there is a ‘buddy’ out in cyberspace informing the Wesleyan public of non-registered parties on campus. I foresee a sharp increase in the rate of underage drinking as a result of this ‘WesPartyGuy,’ and as such, he has replaced fraternities as the number one source of evil on this campus.”
During a break in the interview, Robinson was able to sneak a glance at Wiggin’s desktop. The following are the contents of an open AIM chat window.
