Wesleyan’s indoor track teams kicked off the regular season at the Tufts Invitational on Saturday, as the men placed seventh and the women placed sixth despite resting players on each team.
The Cardinal women swept the top three spots in the 5,000-meter race, with Ellen Davis ’07 leading the way with a time of 18:08. Erin Smith ’06 and Liz Colville ’05 finished second and third with times of 18:37 and 19:04 respectively. Stephanie O’Brien ’08 took top honors in the 500-meter race, crossing the finish line in 1:21.
On the men’s side, Matt Moss ’05 took fourth place in the 800-meter race (1:59) and Owen Kiely ’06 finished fourth in the mile run (4:25). Moss and Kiely joined Dan McLaughlin ’07 and Chris Greene ’08 to lead the Distance Medley Relay squad to a third place finish (10:40).
Next up, Wesleyan will host the Cardinal Invitational on Saturday at 10 a.m.
