Who: Galen DeGraf ’09, members of the Jazz Ensemble and Orquesta Fiebre

What: A one-hour concert of jazz, Latin jazz, salsa, and a drum solo (or two) featuring Degraf, as well as members of the Jazz Ensemble and Orquesta Fiebre.  Degraf will showcase his timbale-and drum-set-playing on some big band salsa.  Degraf says, “The concert also includes my own burning arrangement of “Impressions,” “My Favorite Things” in 5, a little ditty on which I’ll play vibraphone, and more!”

Where: Crowell

When: Sunday, March 20 at 7 p.m.

Why: DeGraf has played in a number of campus bands over the years: The Bea’les, Barney Bates and the Hot Tamales, Orquesta Fiebre, the Cafe Ology Trio, the Wesleyan Jazz Ensemble, and the Wesleyan Jazz Orchestra. So obvi he knows what’s up. Besides, who can resist salsa? Or finding out what the hell a timbale is?

How: Free!
