Who: Megafaun, a North Carolina folk band with Jacob Milstein ’09, and Wesleyan’s the Shade.
What: Playing some badass, down-home, sing-a-long folk music
Where: Earth House, 159 High St.
When: Friday, Sept. 19, 10 p.m.
Why [you should go]: Megafaun proved that they have some major musical chops when they opened for Akron/Family at Fayerweather last semester. I really can’t describe this folk trio any better than Wesleying or AuralWes (see buzzwords like “psychedelic,” “acoustic “ and “Beach Boy harmonies”) except to say that their finger-pickin’ good ditties makes you feel like you’re sitting on a porch in Alabama (they are, of course, originally from Wisconsin). Megafaun is also into listener participation — those who attended Akron/Family sober will recall a lot of coordinated clapping and audience harmonizing. If nothing else, show up early to imbibe a little musical moonshine, with some solo blues by Milstein to be followed by the acoustic stylings of Wesleyan’s the Shade.
