Bringing faiths together to end local hunger

Dear Wesleyan,

On a campus that can sometimes seem fragmented within itself and estranged from the town that surrounds it, we believe it is important to take advantage of opportunities to create community. On Thursday, Sept. 25, the Interfaith Justice League, Muslim Student Association, Haveli India, Bon Appétit, the Middletown Mayor, the University Chaplains, Office of Community Service, Reslife, Adelphic Education Fund, Student Budget Committee, Student Activities and Leadership Development Board, Campus Progress, Middletown Clergy Association, Shakti, Havurah, Catholic Student Organization, and Wesleyan students of all faith backgrounds will come together as one community through fasting and charity.

We would like to invite each and every one of you, regardless of your faith background or lack thereof, to join us in this effort to help end local hunger. To participate, e-mail interfaith.fastathon@gmail.com with your name, WesID, and the number of points you would like to donate. All the money will go to Amazing Grace Food Pantry in Middletown. Then on Sept. 25 we will fast for the day and come together in Beckham Hall at 5:45 p.m. for a break-fast/banquet with guest speakers and food from Haveli. Please note that even if you are unable to fast, we welcome you to donate points or a meal.

Last year we were able to collect several thousand dollars from several hundred participants, and this year we hope to be even more successful. We hope you will join us!

Ramadan Mubarak, Peace, and Love,

The Interfaith Justice League
