Women’s squash downs Smith

The Cards met the Smith Pioneers for the second time this season, pulling off a 7-2 victory on Tuesday.

In early December, when the teams last met, the Cards barely escaped with a 5-4 victory, sweeping the final four matches of the contest. Big wins came from co-captains Chris Spier ’08 and Nicole Gray ’08, playing in the sixth and seventh slots.

Tuesday, Casey Simchik ’10 led off for the Cards in the one slot, emerging victorious with a 3-2 victory. The Cards dropped the next two matches. In the two-slot, Gwynne Hunter ’10 dropped a tough 3-game decision, followed by a 1-3 loss from Liz Demakos ’09. The Cards, however, rallied to win the final six, emerging with a dominating 7-2 victory.

Wesleyan heads to Williams on Saturday for the annual Little Three matches.
