The men’s cross-country team fell to rivals Williams and Amherst in Saturday’s Little Three race at Amherst, as the majority of Wesleyan’s runners delivered sub-par performances.
Tri-captain Jon King ’07 finished third with a time of 26:36 in the 8,000-meter race, just four seconds behind the winner, Harrison Lakehomer of Amherst. Sean Watson ’08, the only Cardinal runner besides King in the top 10, finished ninth with a time of 26:47. Anda Greeney ’07 placed 17th (27:00), just in front of 18th-place finisher tri-captain Alex Battaglino ’07 (27:02), and Jonah Blumstein ’09 rounded out the scoring five for the Cards, placing 25th (27:28).
Wesleyan’s 55-point score in the meet was just three shy of Amherst’s 52; but Williams, at 26, won the meet by a comfortable margin. The Cardinals (33-15 overall) are hoping to race up to their potential this Saturday, as the team will compete in the NESCAC Championship at Connecticut College.
