Sports Shorts: Brady earns All-ECAC honor

Mike “Mad Dog” Brady ’07 earned All-ECAC honors at the ECAC Division III meet in Grafton, Mass. on Saturday. Brady ran the 8,000-meter course in 27:36, good for a ninth place finish in a field of 243 competitors. The first fifteen finishers received this distiction. Brady was followed by Nate Huddell ’07 (28:06, twenty-fourth place). Nikolas Gravelis ’08 (28:43, sixty-fourth place), Matt Moss ’05 (28:58, sixty-fifth place) and Dan Sullivan ’06 (29:07, sixty-ninth place). The Cardinals placed seventh out of the 34 competing teams, showing their depth in what was considered a junior varsity event.

The women also rested their varsity seven on Saturday. Kathleen Salmon ’07 was the top Cardinal finisher, coming in at 25:55, good for eighty-fourth place out of the 206 runners in the 6,000-meter course. Brittany Morse ’08 came in four seconds later to place eighty-seventh. Carrie Vaudreuil ’05 (26:20, ninety-sixth place), Liz Cukor ’05 (26:38, one hundred and seventh place) and Megan Kretz ’07 (28:30, one hundred and forty-eighth place) rounded out the scoring five. Wesleyan tied for fifteenth among the 24 teams in the meet.

The next event for the squads is the New England Division III Championship on Saturday in Cumberland, Maine.
