Dean Hill resigns

President Doug Bennet sent out a community-wide email on Oct. 15 announcing the resignation of Dean of the College Freddye Hill. His letter commented on her work at the University for the last five and a half years, but did not provide a reason for her resignation. Hill’s last day was Wednesday Oct. 22.

Vice President Peter Patton will become the Interim Dean of the College, according to Bennet’s letter. He also said that Dean of Student Services Michael Whaley, Senior Associate Provost and Dean of Continuing Studies Billy Weitzer, and Director of Affirmative Action Kathryn Friedman will be helping Patton in the Dean’s Office.

According to Bennet, Hill will officially be on sabbatical for the rest of the academic year. A full story will appear in the Argus next week.
