Category: Voices

The Voices section of the Argus is a medium for students, faculty, and staff to share their stories and work detailing personal experience in its limitless forms. Voices is for those who who feel that these experiences, shared or individual, are not well known, not being discussed, or not being paid attention to in our community and on Wesleyan’s campus. As such, we especially invite writers from historically marginalized backgrounds to use this section as a platform for expression, awareness, and empowerment.

To that effect, Voices is submission-based; writers can submit their work anonymously and in the written form that best suits their voice. This includes, but is not limited to, personal essays, poems, songs, or combined forms of writing.

Recognizing that what is personal is sensitive, and at times, difficult, we the Voices editors commit to ensuring that authors are provided with any support necessary throughout the writing process. We envision that the Voices section will be one that starts conversations about under-told stories and experiences, creating a culture of cognizance of others in the Wesleyan Community and beyond.
